Last March, Post-Sonic Experiment found itself in Exarcheia, as part of a residency by k23 art studio. There, with a disposable film camera, we captured snapshots of everyday life and culture that we considered significant in relation to both the local history and current events. The photographs were taken at locations connected to events and individuals, at sites bearing sociopolitical messages -either explicit or latent- and at points marked by striking contradictions. At the core of these contradictions, and as the main lens through which we examined these phenomena, is the gentrification the area is undergoing, in its many forms and with all its implications.
To these 23 photographs, artists from the Post-Sonic Experiment team responded with musical compositions, visual artworks, texts, graphic scores, and video art. This body of work constitutes the present collective exhibition at Vitruvian Thing.
