Echoes

Vangelis Boulouhtsis

Vitruvian Thing, Ptolemaeon 29A, 4th fl., 54630, Thessaloniki
Echoes is a solo performance by Vaggelis Boulouhtsis, widely known bassist of “Chapter 24”, “Omma” etc.

The project, minimal in essence but strongly embracing experimental fields and improvisation, is characterised by ambient and mystic elements, through which the audience is submerged in intense sonorous, futuristic or nostalgic, worlds.
The progression of the performance is based on the simulation of the naturally occurring phenomenon of echo, produced by electronic delay devices, thus enabling the artist to compose dark ambient soundscapes on the spot with the use of bass, vocals, as well as with other sound-producing sources, such as bird calls, sleigh bells, and more.

Εcho time and feedback are continuously adjusted in such a way, that two or three echoes only or infinite loops are produced. This variation combined with excerpts from the texts of G. Oikonomou, leads to a deeply ambient, otherworldly and captivating journey.
